Mr. Matthew

Mr. Matthew Gilfillan is a passionate educator and a consummate professional who prioritizes learning outcomes and student engagement. With ten successful years teaching at international schools, including 5 years at YK Pao School in Shanghai, he brings a wealth of experience to the table. He has held leadership positions, including lead teacher in several year levels and schoolwide English Coordinator (developing and implementing English curriculum). He has also developed high-leveled content and curriculum, such as Global Links, for Rivendell Education.

 

Holding a Masters of Education, Bachelors of Education and a Bachelors of Arts, as well as a teaching license from the Ontario College of Teachers, he is qualified, to say the least. He has also continued to seek out opportunities for professional development, and he is a skilled and reflective practitioner.

 

All of this serious stuff aside, students and colleagues know him for his fun and engaging lessons, commitment to creating visually-stunning content and resources, as well as his empathetic and caring nature. When combined, qualifications, compassion, drive, experience, fun and engagement are a sure-fire recipe for students’ success.
