Mr. Hoban

Andrew has been a teacher and manager in international schools in Shanghai/Hangzhou for over ten years. His passion for teaching revolves around helping students to find the confidence and independence they need to develop a real love of learning. His certificates in Political Science (BA), Computer Science (BS) and IB PYP. Apart from teaching, Andrew is also a successful entrepreneur and founder of two startups (including this one!)

 

After arriving in China in 2010, Andrew taught G1-G3 in Shanghai WFL. Following that, he was made the Academic Coordinator of Hangzhou WFL and led the organization of teaching and learning for the new school there. He instituted a character based approach inspired by the principles of IB in the international department. After that, he was a G1 teacher at Vanke Bilingual Primary before leaving private schools to homeschool his own kids and focus on his other startups.

 

Andrew’s classes are highly engaging and he has high expectations for his students attention and effort. He has been known by parents and students to give some “tough love” when needed! Andrew loves helping children to find their element in English learning, so though his classes are well planned, they can also be very fun and spontaneous.
