Ms. Klimkowski

Renee is an educator and administrator with 20 years experience, including as a principal in public and private schools. With a BS in Education and MA in the Art of Teaching, she is a curriculum and assessment designer and people enabler. She also leads a team of students each year to take part in national robot challenges in the US. Last year, her team won an award for innovation.

 

We met Renee when she was teaching at Vanke Bilingual School in 2018 and were very impressed with her level of engagement with the students. At the time, she was running a reading club for advanced students during her lunch break. Before she came to Shanghai, she was a teacher and principal at a US public school for 8 years.

 

Renee is a busy mother of triplets (!) but she still finds time for running after school clubs for her students in coding and robotics. When she isn’t teaching, she likes travelling and taking her boat out on Lake Sinclair, Michigan.

 

Renee always says she wants to help children to do the things they didn’t know they could do. Her classes are really interactive, with online quizzes for students to demonstrate their understanding and facilitated student-student discussions (yes, even online). She is a Zoom master and has no problem creating an awesome classroom experience from the other side of the globe.
